Week 1: Trust and Mutual Respect in Family Relationships

Inspirational Quote

Trust is the glue of life. It’s the most essential ingredient in effective communication. It’s the foundational principle that holds all relationships.
— Stephen R. Covey

Discussion Point:

Reflect on this quote and discuss its meaning with each of your family members. How does trust play a role in your daily interactions?

Song Reflection

Read the lyrics of ”You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban or listen to the song lyrics.

“When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary
When troubles come and my heart burdened be
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence
Until You come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be”

Discussion Point:

After reading, ask your spouse/ children how the song applies to the way we can show mutual respect to one another. In what ways do you raise each other up as a family? How are you one another’s strengths in hard times?
