Celebrate Kindness this Valentine’s Day with Doing Good Together™
This Valentine’s Day take the time to celebrate kindness with the ones you love with these simple and fun Valentine’s activities!
Take our February challenge. Have fun with this heart-themed 28-Day Kindness Challenge. Tackle one small act of kindness each day, or see how many activities you can complete on Valentine's Day alone. Reward your crew with a chocolate heart for their efforts!
Host a Valentine’s party. Collect craft supplies, gather friends and family, and create Valentines for people at a local hospital or nursing home. Some great recipients for your Valentine’s cards include:
Color a Simple Picture. As another option, find “Happy Valentine's Day" templates on the Color A Smile website. Send your decorated pictures to the address provided, and they'll be distributed to nursing homes, Meals on Wheels recipients, and other individuals needing Valentine’s cheer.
Share kindness notes with loved ones. Post our new What I Love About… printable in a visible place in the house and encourage everyone to write or share something about everyone else in the family. Print and cut out our Kindness Hearts. Leave them in a visible place for family members to leave stealthy kindness notes for each other. Stash notes in lunch boxes, in coat pockets, and in the mail. For craft lovers: create family mailboxes for stashing kindness notes on bedroom doors by sealing the two side edges of a file folder with tape.
Spark fun with our Family Conversation Hearts. Print a copy of our new Family Conversation Hearts and put them in the car to use on-the-go, or cut them up and put them in a bowl in the center of your dining room table. Draw one from the bowl (along with a sugar conversation heart) to get the conversation flowing.
Read a big-hearted book together from DGT’s Read with Empathy booklists. Pick a book from this list of books celebrating love and generosity. Check out In My Heart: A Book of Feelings by Jo Witek, featured in our emotional awareness book list and then draw and share the many things filling your heart alongside your child using this brand new What’s in Your Heart? printable.
Give Big-Hearted Gifts. If you're giving Valentine's Day gifts to family or friends, try to give ones that spread kindness and love all year, such as a Kindness Magnetic Poetry Kit or kindness-themed books. Don’t forget! You can donate to DGT in honor of your big-hearted Valentine! We’ll include a card to print or email to your loved one to acknowledge your gift.
