Kindness in Bloom: Ways to Focus on Kindness with Your Family This Spring

Kindness in Bloom: Ways to Focus on Kindness with Your Family This Spring

As Spring arrives and nature awakens, let’s focus on how kindness can bloom in our lives as well. Take some time with your family to enjoy the outdoors, share some kindness with one another and do something good for the earth. Spring reminds us that small seeds of kindness can lead to lasting change.

Together, let’s spread kindness this spring season.

With gratitude,
—MiaLisa Millares, Executive Director

ACTION

Try Guerilla Gardening.

One way to do a little gardening if you don’t have a place to garden at your home is to create seed bombs for monarch butterflies. This fun but messy activity will help our monarch population to thrive.

Create a Nature Journal.

Spring is an amazing time to notice all the changes that are happening around you from day to day! Take some time to create a nature journal with your kids this spring. Check out our nature-exclusive packet complete with a nature journal!

Plant a Row to Help Others.

Planting has so many benefits. This spring take the time to teach your kids about planting and grow some vegetables together. Whether you have a garden in your backyard, or one on your windowsill, this is a chance to engage with nature in a hands-on way. If your garden produces more than what you can eat in a salad, you can share some of your produce with neighbors or even some food shelves! That is a great way to mix kindness with springtime fun.

Tear Off Kindness Posters.

Have some fun spreading kindness together with these tear off kindness posters that you can place around your community to bring people a joyful moment!

Volunteer Outdoors.

There are so many different opportunities to volunteer together as a family. Doing Good Together takes the time to curate opportunities that work for kids and parents. Check out our volunteer listings to see if something this month focuses on nature, or check out our at home family projects focused on nature!

CONVERSATIONS

Having good conversations with kids is a great way to show your values and to pass on meaningful ways to connect to the environment.

  • How are spring blooms and kindness alike?

  • How does nature inspire you?

  • How do you feel when you are outside enjoying nature?

  • What are ways you can help to make the earth a better place?

  • Are the small choices you make impactful for our world? How?
